One Day

One Day - David Nicholls

Emma and Dexter meet for the first time on the night of their graduation. Tomorrow they must go their separate ways. So where will they be on this one day next year? And the year after that? And every year that follows?

Twenty years, two people, ONE DAY.

THOUGHTS:

One Day is about two people who you wouldn't expect to have have any relationship at all. They look like they would never talk, hang out, or sit together. They are from two separate worlds. Dexter is a charismatic and social womanizer. He loves being in the lime light and he is spoiled. Emma, on the other hand, is a hardworking, introverted, invisible girl. She is more of a bystander and is very antisocial. She is the complete opposite of Dexter. You wouldn't think that they would find there way across and be friends. However, they do become friends and even more. The story is about how these two people started a friendship, struggle to find their place in in the adult world, and then discovering that they needed was each other after everything they have been through.

This story is about struggle. Going through life where there are ups and downs, and you have someone to always fall back to. If you like stories that are tear dripping, hearaching, and romantic, this is a story you should read.

This book has also been turned into a movie starring Anne Hathaway. I think the movie was good, and don't get me wrong I cried. It was fantastic, but I think everyone should read the book before the movie. If you have not read the book, please do so before the movie.

One Day was beautifully written. I think the book really resonates with me. The struggle that both Emma and Dexter faces is something that I am going through now, and it struck cord with me. I think this is one of my favorite books, so I highly suggest everyone to read this story.
