Poison Princess - Kresley Cole
She could save the world—or destroy it.Sixteen-year-old Evangeline "Evie" Greene leads a charmed life, until she begins experiencing horrifying hallucinations. When an apocalyptic event decimates her Louisiana hometown, Evie realizes her hallucinations were actually visions of the future—and they're still happening. Fighting for her life and desperate for answers, she must turn to her wrong-side-of-the-bayou classmate: Jack Deveaux.
But she can't do either alone.
With his mile-long rap sheet, wicked grin, and bad attitude, Jack is like no boy Evie has ever known. Even though he once scorned her and everything she represented, he agrees to protect Evie on her quest. She knows she can't totally depend on Jack. If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?
Who can Evie trust?
As Jack and Evie race to find the source of her visions, they meet others who have gotten the same call. An ancient prophesy is being played out, and Evie is not the only one with special powers. A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it's not always clear who is on which side.

THOUGHTS:
When I began reading this book, I thought it was really slow. The book begins when Evie walks into a house owned by Aurthur, who she is having tea with and telling her story before the apocalypse. Her story at the beginning was not that interesting. It was a little bit generic for most YA books. Bad boy meets popular girl and they have an unmistakable chemistry. However, I did the author really spiced it up adding that the setting is in the South. I think it adds a little twist.
I think Evie needs a backbone. She is too reliant on Jack, who can sometimes be a jackass. I think there "something" between the two, but I don't think it's chemistry. A connection perhaps. Away really sold me about this book was the way the author told the story. The author does a great job of setting the story up and then referring back to it at the end. I won't spoil it for you, but the ending was spectacular and left a huge cliffhanger. I also enjoyed the closing scene of the book when there was misunderstanding between Evie and Jack, but there is no going back and changing it.
I really like this book. I enjoyed the style of writing and the climax of the book. 2nd book called Endless Knight is came out last year. I will be doing a review on it later this week.
