Archetype - M.D. Waters
Emma wakes in a hospital, with no memory of what came before. Her husband, Declan, a powerful, seductive man, provides her with new memories, but her dreams contradict his stories, showing her a past life she can’t believe possible: memories of war, of a camp where girls are trained to be wives, of love for another man. Something inside her tells her not to speak of this, but she does not know why. She only knows she is at war with herself.
Suppressing those dreams during daylight hours, Emma lets Declan mold her into a happily married woman and begins to fall in love with him. But the day Noah stands before her, the line between her reality and dreams shatters.
In a future where women are a rare commodity, Emma fights for freedom but is held captive by the love of two men—one her husband, the other her worst enemy. If only she could remember which is which. . . .
The first novel in a two-part series, Archetype heralds the arrival of a truly memorable character—and the talented author who created her.

THOUGHTS:
When I read the back of the book, there was a few things that caught my eye. First off, it was a character who has amnesia and is trying to discover her past self. As a reader, I have no idea what is going on, just like the character. This framework, the author has set up makes this book interesting. There are interesting aspects about the book as well like the shroud of mysteries that needs to be uncovered and betrayals that needs to be explained.
What I really liked about the book, is that I couldn't take sides on who was evil or good. There were times I knew for certain it was this person, but then I would doubt it. The "evil" person, the author I think was trying to portray, to me, was not evil at all. Well, the things he did was not right, but I think his love to Emma was genuine and that is why I doubt his 'evil' characteristics.
The storyline of the book was surprising. When I thought I understand what the whole "past" or "secrets" about, the author pulls out a hidden trick. I totally hadn't seen it coming. I think this debut book is a compelling read I encourage you all to read this. I picked up this book yesterday and just finished it. It was a really quick read. Warning! Don't read for more than 6 hours straight. Please leave your room to take a shower and eat. It is not good to be unhygienic.
Unfortunately, this book is a 2-part series and the sequel is called Prototype. It will be released in July 2014! Can't wait to read it.
