Throne of Glass

Throne of Glass - Sarah J. Maas

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another.

Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

THOUGHTS:

This book is so GOOD! I love it! The story is about an assassin struggling to survive in prison. With one word printed on that book, I WAS SOLD! "Assassin." Wow. I mean how great is that, to have a main character who is an assassin. The main character name is Celaena. She is such a strong character. I love how she doesn't need to rely on anyone else. She has this strong inner strength. She is a flirt and a witty person. This is a girl who I would be friends with immediately. Not only did I fall in love with the main character, but I also loved the other characters like Dorian and Chaol. I will say here that I am a TEAM CHAOL. He may be a stick up the butt, but he is sweet. I love how Celaena won't take anyone's crap. She is such a loveable character. Celaena has to go through a competition that will allow her freedom. During the competition, she gets to do some serious ass-whopping with her assassin skills. I highly recommend people to go get this book and read the second book. I will be doing a review on the second called Crown of Midnight. If you like assassins, a lot of fighting, and humor, then you will love this!!!!

p.s. reminder will do a review on the 2nd book Crown of Midnight and the 3rd book is coming out in 2014 - Untitled (not yet announced)
